BOOST  Training for ESY

This one day workshop provides participants with the necessary skills and resources to implement an ESY Boost program targeting students entering 1st grade who are displaying below grade level literacy skills. 

Participants will:

  • Gain knowledge of complicated learner profiles and how to quickly identify learning needs. 
  • Obtain 25 days of curriculum resources geared towards accelerating growth for students reading Levels A-F.

This one day workshop will help you walk away better equipped to work with every child within your classroom. “I Think My Student Might Have Dyslexia.”

Each day, as Micah and I support teachers in schools, we hear this from teachers needing more information to support learners who struggle to crack the code of reading.  As we learn more and more about the process of reading acquisition, it can feel like you are drowning in a sea of information.  This one day workshop is designed to help streamline the information and structure your literacy block for maximum student growth, especially those students who are struggling to advance.  Gain a better understanding of how to identify student reading profiles and adjust your Guided Reading and Independent Learning Centers to meet learner needs.  The intent of this learning experience is to help you feel empowered align your instructional practices with the foundational elements of reading.

TWO DAY WORKSHOPS

Restructuring RtI to Reach All Learners Seminar _

Create an RtI system that results a 50% reduction in referrals in the first year. 

This two day leadership seminar prepares district and school leadership teams to understand reading research as it translates to classroom and school based practices.   In addition to reading research, participants will learn about how to support processing deficits traditionally only serviced through special education identification.  This seminar moves beyond theory with structures and strategies that can be immediately implemented.  The seminar is designed to train the trainer so that participants are able to follow the CSS methodology to attain significant increase in literacy achievement, students meeting growth targets and reductions in referrals to special education.   

Participants will:

  • Establish specific data analysis standards that correlate to research.
  • Understand structure and implementation techniques for  targeted high impact learning.
  • Develop an increased understanding of the challenging learner
  • Design district/school specific instructional strategies for struggling learners
  • Develop district/school specific roadmap to achieve individual targeted literacy goal
  • Understand customized data structures via the CSS model

Level One Workshop.   A deeper discussion of the impact of movement on learning and using motor skills to help untangle the complicated learners in your classroom.   Learn what motor elements connect to specific learning profiles and how to maximize your students’ potential.

Participants will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding student learning patterns as they connect to motor and visual skills. 
  • Establish classroom practices that target delayed motor and visual skills
  • Participate in case studies to help deepen knowledge
